The Middle Aged Adventures of Sprocket Man- Chapter 7
New gear!
Stephen walked into the shop, still bewildered from the news he had watched at home. Stephanie came bolting toward him.
“Did you see this?” Stephanie asked as she shoved the newspaper in his face.
The paper read “Sprocket Man Rescues Local Reporter”.
“I didn’t know that kids your age read the newspaper,” Stephen said with a sly grin.
Stephanie rolled her eyes, “Har, har,” she fake laughed.
“Still though, the front page is really amazing!” Stephen said.
“When were you going to tell me that you were going to re-start with Sprocket Man?” Stephanie asked, a little disappointment in her voice.
“I had not planned on restarting,” said Stephen, “But I saw that woman in need of help, so I helped her. When she asked me who I was I told her that I was Sprocket Man! I didn’t think this would happen!”
Stephanie listened carefully and after a moment of thought said, “You told her that you were Sprocket Man? That means that somewhere inside of you, you want to restart doing this superhero stuff. Right?"
“Yeah, I guess you are right.”
Stephanie smiled, “Well, in that case, we have a lot of work to do.”
Stephen was surprised, “We? What are you talking about?
“If you are going to be a superhero, then you actually need to have some gear that makes you super heroic! Here is a blueprint for what I was thinking."
Stephanie handed Stephen a piece of paper with a bike that had all kinds of gadgets on it. There was an oil slick compartment, a high lumen light for blinding villains, retractable spikes, an autopilot feature, along with many other things.
“Where did you come up with all of this?” Stephen asked.
Stephanie smiled, “Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed about you becoming Sprocket Man again. Now you are, and now I can be a part of it!”
“Your the best, Steph.” Stephen said as he hugged her.
That moment, the phone rang.
“Bicycle Repair Man Repair Shop! This is Stephen!”
“Sprocket Man,” came a strong voice from the line, “This is Captain Courageous. We need to talk.”
