The Middle Aged Adventures of Sprocket Man- Chapter 1
Good morning, Sprocket Man!
Beep Beep Beep Beep
A weary hand hit the top of an old alarm clock. Stephen Schwin slowly opened his eyes. It was a Monday.
Stephen felt every bone in his body ache as he inched his way out of bed. His feet hit the floor. The floor was cold. He had fallen asleep with socks on, but somehow in the middle of the night they disappeared.
Stephen looked around at his bedroom. He saw the same torn wallpaper, the same leaky roof, and smelled the same musky smell that he had experienced for more than 10 years.
He walked into his kitchen. It was a small galley kitchen with an old refrigerator and an outdated gas oven with two eyes that stopped working long ago. Stephen started making his coffee. Dark roast. As the coffee trickled into the pot, Stephen looked in the old refrigerator for some breakfast. The refrigerator was practically empty, except for some old Chinese takeout and a little bit of milk in a carton. With a heavy sigh, Stephen pulled out the Chinese food, there was still some pork left in all of that rice.
With his cup of coffee and pork friend rice, he sat down in his recliner and turned on the tv.
The morning news jingle turned on, “The city of Metroville was attacked yesterday by The Rat Doctor until being rescued once again by Captain Courageous-“

Stephen frowned at the tv before taking a long sip of coffee.
His phone buzzed. He pulled it out of his pocket and saw that he had a reminder for the day. It read, “Lunch with John at noon”. Stephen smiled, something to look forward to today.
He hurried and got his clothes on. He had a full slate today and was already late
.
It was just another day in the life of Stephen Schwin, also known by some as Sprocket Man.
